no, seriously. victims of emotional abuse have it hard because they do not have the physical marks or the records to “prove” to someone they were hurt and are hurting. most people will not take emotional abuse as seriously as physical abuse, saying “you should get over it” or “sticks and stones”. thats fucking bullshit.

emotional abuse victims who have been forced to do or say or be things you never wanted to, i love you.

emotional abuse victims who have been gaslighted and manipulated to the point where you no longer know what is real, i care for you.

emotional abuse victims who are told they will never be loved by anyone else and they are not a good person, you are amazing.

emotional abuse victims who feel manipulative and often catch themselves mirroring actions of their abusers and feel sick to their stomachs because theyre “turning into them”, you are not them and never will be. you are so much better than that.

emotional abuse victims who have to live every day suffering because nobody understands how messed up you are from what they said or did or made you do, you arent alone.

anyone who reads this, i care for you. please support all victims of abuse every single day because they deserve it just like they deserve the love and care those in the past have failed to provide them

Okay I’m sobbing thank you for that..

When the emotional abuse got bad, all i wanted was it to get physical. I was so scared i was making it up that i wanted the proof from some kind of bruise. It’s so important that people are validated in their experience so they can stay safe.

My dad was violently abusive. He would raise his fists and come towards me while yelling at me. He would get angry and break things, kick and throw things, but he never hit me. So I still call it psychological/emotional abuse. Although I’ve been told that sort of violence can have similar effects to physical abuse psychologically, I’m afraid to undermine real physical abuse victims. But emotional abuse isn’t necessarily less severe than physical, physical abuse is usually hand in hand with emotional abuse.

I wanted him to just hit me so bad, because I was balls deep in manipulation but I thought if he hit me I could call the police. I couldn’t explain my abuse to anyone because I was so confused about what was happening but I could explain bruises.

But for the record, if someone makes you feel unsafe you can call the police. They don’t have to hit you first. Don’t draw the line at getting hit.

The friendship I was in was slightly abusive and she was very passive aggressive.

My therapist is helping me though my psychological trauma, but it takes so much work to redirect my thought processes when I’m reminded of my abuse which is sometimes just spontaneous and comes without warning. I’ll just wake up one morning and I can’t stop crying because the memories are so vivid. Something that would be no big deal to most people can set me back for days emotionally. It’s fucking exhausting.

During refurbishment of Paisley Abbey, Scotland a number of the gargoyles had to be replaced. Being quite high up, it took a while to realize that the stonemasons had modeled one on the xenomorph from the Alien films. The church saw the funny side. Via Elveri.
